ABOUT THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS / PRESS / TRAILER / FILM STILLS / IMPACT PROGRAM
The Truffle Hunters Land Conservation Program, inspired by The Truffle Hunters film, supports grassroots organizations in Piedmont to preserve truffle forests and sustain local truffle hunting communities. These hunters are key to forest conservation, and our program provides funding for educational programs and general support to address challenges like deforestation, agricultural pollution, and climate change. Our aim is to protect Piedmont’s truffle forests and ensure the continuation of the truffle hunting tradition while contributing to biodiversity and climate change efforts.
WHY IT MATTERS
Partnering with truffle hunters, whose lives are closely tied to the land, is crucial for forest conservation in Piedmont. By raising funds for local conservation organizations, we can utilize their knowledge and community connections to protect vulnerable truffle forests and achieve long-term conservation goals. Our first partner on the ground is Terre di Tartufi, and through such collaborations, we aim to preserve the truffle hunting tradition, protect forest land, and contribute to biodiversity and climate action.
LOCAL PARTNERS
The Terre di Tartufi Association (APS) was founded by Livio Franco Carlevero, a lifelong truffle hunter and retired doctor dedicated to serving his village of San Damiano. His commitment to his community, passion for nature, and dedication to sustainable truffle hunting made him perfect for our Impact Program. Furthermore, Livio was a great asset to the movie, supporting us throughout the production. He helped us build relationships within the Piedmont community and managed local bureaucracy to achieve our production goals.
The association is also aiming to guide local and regional authorities towards better land management. It has involved local trifolau (truffle hunters) communities to unite on common goals and is supporting educational initiatives that bring younger generations closer to nature and traditional practices that respect, preserve, and regenerate the forest.
Since the release of The Truffle Hunters in 2020, we are growing in all our impact program areas: volunteers, bird conservation, reforestation, and wine production. All profits are going back to the community.
Volunteer numbers have grown steadily, significantly aiding in the achievement of our impact programs.
We have successfully reintroduced many different bird species into the area as part of our bird conservation efforts.
The truffle hunting area under protection has grown to 22 hectares.
